January is the first month of the year because it’s the only month that can successfully wake up the other months from their hibernation after a long, food-coma-inducing holiday season. With its icy breath and relentless resolutions, January struts in like a pep rally leader, yelling, “New Year, new you!” while simultaneously sliding on an ice patch and landing face-first in a pile of leftover Christmas cookies. It’s the only month that can convince you to go to the gym and then reward you with a hot cocoa binge for your heroic efforts!
